Kanayama Castle (Kouzuke Province/Gunma Prefecture)
Kanayama-jo is one of the seven most famous castles in Kanto region and it is said the origin was built by Iezumi Iwamatsu in the 1st year of Bunmei era (1469). The Yura clan who was the retainer of the Iwamatsu clan ousted the Iwamatsu clan and the castle became the base of the Yura clan since then. The Yura clan survived the Sengoku period by being obedient to the Nagao and Hojo clans. However, when Hideyoshi conquered the Hojo clan in the 18th year of Tensho era (1590), the Yura clan was transfered to Hitachi Province and Kanayama-jo was abandoned.
