Yoshida Koriyama Castle (Aki Province/Hiroshima Prefecture)
The stronghold of Mohri clan who used to be a Jito (medieval land steward) of Akinokuni Yoshidanosho. Motonari Mohri who became a Sengoku daimyo vastly extended the castle. A typical mountain castle and the residential quarters used to be arranged at its foot. The castle withstood a siege of Amago clan's large force in the 10th year of Tensho era (1541) and proved its fortitude. Mohri clan united the Chugoku region based on this castle. As the time passed toward the end of the Sengoku period, Yoshidakohriyama-jo finished its role and was abandoned when Terumoto Mohri built Hiroshima-jo and moved his base there.
